Penny Slater

Penny Slater is one of Australia’s leading long course triathletes, known for her resilience, consistency, and ability to race through the field. Based in Canberra, Penny made the bold decision to leave her teaching career in 2022 to pursue triathlon full time, a move that has quickly paid off with a series of breakthrough performances on the world stage.

With a background in exercise science and a PhD, Penny brings a thoughtful and analytical approach to her training and racing, while also using her platform to advocate for athlete wellbeing, particularly for women in sport.

Her career highlight to date came at the 2024 IRONMAN World Championships in Nice, where she delivered a standout performance to finish 7th in the world, overcoming injury setbacks earlier in the season and showcasing her trademark strength on the bike and run.

Penny continues to establish herself as a consistent threat in long course racing, with podium finishes and strong results across IRONMAN and 70.3 events, and is firmly building towards future world championship success.
